EWG’s favorite park and a special gem close to Evergreen. Colorado’s newest state park opened to the public on May 18, 2013. The park is located approximately 40 miles southwest of downtown Denver. The Park in located in Park and Jefferson counties, in Pine, Colorado. Staunton’s meadows at 8,100 feet change to vertical granite crags over 10,000 feet in elevation. Staunton State Park is abundant in Rocky Mountain geology, flora, fauna and weather.
From Denver: Take US Highway 285 south to Shaffers Crossing, about 6 miles west of Conifer. Turn north on Elk Creek Road and follow the signs 1.5 miles to the park entrance.
